What counts as healthcare workwear

Every clinic has a different mix of staff, and the uniform brief usually reflects that. Clinicians and nurses generally want proper scrub sets, a top and pant in a colour that suits the practice, easy to move in and easy to wash. Reception and admin staff are often better in a polo or a soft-shell over a collared shirt, something that reads as professional without looking clinical. Some practices, particularly GPs and specialists, still want a lab coat for certain roles, worn over regular clothes rather than scrubs. We also do medical tunics, which sit somewhere between a polo and a full scrub top and work well for allied health staff who move between the clinic floor and a desk.

None of this needs to be uniform in the literal sense of everyone wearing the same thing. It's common for us to set a clinic up with two or three different garment types across the team, all carrying the same embroidered branding so it still looks coordinated when a patient walks through the door.

Why embroidery and branding matters for clinics

A patient walking into a clinic for the first time is working out who's who within the first few seconds. A name and role embroidered on a shirt, "Dr Sarah Nguyen" or "Practice Nurse", does that job instantly, and it reads as more considered than a name badge clipped on that morning. It also matters for the practice itself. Consistent branding across scrubs, polos and lab coats makes a clinic look established, even if it's a newer practice.

We digitise every logo in-house and keep the file on record permanently. That matters more in healthcare than in a lot of other industries we work with, because staff turnover in medical practices is constant, and a poorly digitised logo that looks slightly different on the fifth reorder than it did on the first is the kind of thing patients and staff both notice, even if they can't say exactly what's wrong.

Fabric and comfort for long shifts

Clinical staff are often on their feet for eight, ten, sometimes twelve hour shifts, and what they're wearing needs to hold up to that without being a distraction. The scrub and tunic ranges we stock from Biz Collection and NNT are built for exactly this kind of use: breathable fabric blends, stretch through the shoulders and knees, and finishes that are genuinely easy to wash and iron. We're not making medical claims about infection control or clinical-grade fabric performance, that's not our area. What we can say plainly is that the fabrics are practical for a clinic environment: they wash well at high temperatures, they don't hold odour the way cheaper poly blends do, and they wear in rather than wearing out.

For reception and admin staff who are seated for a lot of the day, we usually steer people toward a softer polo or shirt fabric rather than scrub material, since the priorities there are different, more about looking sharp for a full shift than about ease of movement.

How ordering works

Most clinics start with a quote request, either through the website or a phone call, where we talk through who needs what. If you've got an existing logo, send it through and we'll digitise it for embroidery, if you don't have one yet or want it tidied up, we can help with that too. From there we send through a proof to approve before anything gets made, so what lands on the garment is exactly what you signed off on. Once artwork is approved, turnaround is typically 2 to 7 business days depending on order size and what's in stock. Because there's no minimum order quantity, this works the same whether you're kitting out a brand-new clinic of fifteen staff or just replacing one nurse's scrub top that's worn through.

Reordering and staff turnover

Medical practices lose and gain staff more often than most workplaces, and reordering a single uniform for one new hire shouldn't be a hassle. Because we keep every practice's digitised logo on file, a reorder is just a matter of telling us the size and garment. There's no re-setup and no risk of the new person's uniform looking slightly off compared to everyone else's. If your practice changes its branding down the track, we update the file once and it applies to every future order from then on.
