Screen printing, DTF and sublimation are three ways to print a design onto fabric. Screen printing suits bold designs in big runs, DTF handles full-colour and detailed artwork on small or large jobs, and sublimation prints all-over designs on polyester. We run all three across South East Queensland and match the method to your design, fabric and quantity.

The three methods, explained

Screen printing

Pushes ink through a stencil (a screen) onto the garment, one colour at a time. Setup takes effort, so it's priced for volume. Once it's running, the per-shirt cost drops fast, which makes it the cheapest option for large runs of a simple, one to three colour design. The finish is durable and feels right on cotton tees.

DTF (direct to film)

Prints your full-colour design onto a film, then heat-presses it onto the garment. There's no per-colour setup, so it's cost-effective even for small numbers and handles fine detail and photographic artwork that screen printing struggles with. It works on cotton, poly and blends.

Sublimation

Dyes the design into polyester fabric using heat, so the print becomes part of the cloth with no feel on top. It's how you get bright, all-over designs that don't fade, and it's the standard for sports and team uniforms. It only works on light polyester. What prints well, and what doesn't

Printing handles things embroidery can't: gradients, photographs, large back prints, fine lines and lots of colour. If your design has any of those, print is almost always the answer.

What to watch for: very large solid prints on heavy cotton can feel stiff, and dark garments need a white underbase that adds cost. We'll flag anything that affects feel or price before you commit, so the finished shirt is what you pictured.

  • Send your design and quantity. Vector artwork is ideal, but send what you have.
  • We recommend a method and quote. Based on your design, fabric and numbers.
  • Artwork prep and proof. We set up the print and show you how it'll look.
  • Print and cure. Ink is properly cured so it stands up to washing.
  • Quality check, then pickup or delivery across South East Queensland.

Printing FAQs

What's the cheapest way to print t-shirts in bulk?

Screen printing, once you're into larger quantities of a simple design. The setup cost spreads across the run, so the more you print, the lower the per-shirt price.

Is DTF or screen printing better?

Neither is universally better. DTF wins for small runs, full colour and fine detail. Screen printing wins for large runs of simple designs and a classic feel on cotton. We pick based on your job.

Will the print crack or peel?

Not if it's cured properly, which we do. Most cracking comes from under-curing or cheap process. Wash inside out in cold water and a good print lasts the life of the shirt.

Can you print photos or full-colour logos?

Yes, with DTF. It handles photographic and multi-colour artwork without a separate setup per colour.

What's sublimation used for?

All-over, vivid designs on polyester, most commonly sports and team uniforms. The design dyes into the fabric so there's no print to feel or peel. Full detail on our sublimation page.

Do you print on hi-vis and workwear?

Yes. We print and decorate hi-vis, including compliant day/night garments.

What's the minimum I can order?

No minimum. DTF makes small runs and even one-offs viable.

Can I supply my own shirts to print?

Often yes. Send the details and we'll confirm the fabric suits the method.
