What is custom embroidery?

Custom embroidery is decoration made by stitching thread into fabric with an industrial embroidery machine. Your logo is first converted into a digital stitch file (called digitising), which tells the machine the exact path, density and colours to sew. The machine then stitches that design onto each garment.

The result is a raised, textured logo that won't peel, crack or wash out. For a business, it reads as established and permanent, which is exactly the impression a uniform should give.

What embroidery suits best

Embroidery shines on structured, heavier garments and on logos that aren't too fine or photographic.

  • Polos and business shirts — the classic staff uniform
  • Jackets, vests and fleece — embroidery handles thick fabric well
  • Caps and beanies — stitched logos sit beautifully on a cap front
  • Bags and aprons — durable branding that survives daily use
  • Corporate wear — embroidered chests and cuffs look premium

Where embroidery isn't the right call: very small text, fine gradients, or full-colour photographic artwork. Those print better. We'll tell you honestly if your logo will lose detail stitched, and suggest printing instead.

How the embroidery process works

  • Send your logo. Any format. We'll let you know if it needs cleaning up.
  • Digitising. We convert your logo into a stitch file and choose thread colours to match your brand. A one-off setup; reorders reuse the file.
  • Sample stitch-out. On larger orders we stitch a sample so you can check size, placement and colour before the full run.
  • Production. Your garments are stitched, trimmed and checked.
  • Pickup or delivery across South East Queensland.

Because we keep your stitch file on record, your second order looks identical to your first, even a year later.

What it costs

Embroidery is priced two ways: a one-off digitising setup for a new logo, then a per-garment stitch price based on how many stitches your design needs. A simple chest logo is a low stitch count and good value across a batch. A large, detailed back design costs more because it takes longer to sew.

That pricing model is why embroidery is strong value for staff uniforms: you pay to set the logo up once, then each garment is affordable, and reorders skip the setup entirely.

Embroidery vs printing, briefly

Choose embroidery for polos, jackets, caps and anything you want to look premium and last for years. Choose printing for fine detail, photographic designs, big bold graphics, or large runs of basic tees where cost per unit matters most. Plenty of jobs use both — an embroidered chest logo with a printed back, for example.

Embroidery FAQs

How long does embroidery last?

A properly stitched logo will outlast the garment in normal use. It won't crack, peel or fade the way print can, and it handles repeated washing well.

Will embroidery work on my logo?

Most logos embroider well. Very fine text and photographic or gradient artwork are the exceptions, and we'll flag those before you order and suggest print if it suits better.

What's digitising and do I pay for it every time?

Digitising is converting your logo into a stitch file. It's a one-off setup cost per logo. Reorders of the same logo reuse the file, so you don't pay again.

Can you match my brand colours?

Yes. We match your colours to the closest embroidery thread shades and confirm them with you. Thread colours are a fixed range, so the match is very close rather than a perfect Pantone, which we'll point out if it matters for your brand.

What's the smallest order you'll do?

No minimum. A single embroidered polo for a new staff member is fine.

Do you embroider caps and beanies?

Yes. Caps are one of the most popular items we stitch, and a front logo looks excellent on them.

Can you embroider names as well as a logo?

Yes. Individual names above or below a logo are common on uniforms and we can do per-garment names.
