What a retail or shop uniform usually is

Most shops don't need a full uniform range. They need one or two garments that staff can put on at the start of a shift and take off at the end, something simple enough to wear all day on your feet. That's almost always a polo shirt or a tee, sometimes with a branded apron over the top if you're handling stock or packaging in front of customers. A few shops add a cap or a beanie for outdoor stalls or market stands. Why it matters that staff are easy to spot

Walk into any shop as a customer and the first thing you're doing, whether you realise it or not, is working out who works there. If that takes too long, people either wander off without asking their question or interrupt another customer by mistake. A consistent uniform solves this instantly. Customers see the colour, the logo, the same shirt on three different people, and they know who to approach. It also does something for the staff themselves. A shared uniform gives a casual or part-time employee an immediate sense of belonging to the team. They're not guessing what's appropriate to wear.

Casual staff, students and high turnover

Retail is one of the few industries where staff genuinely rotate constantly. Students leave at the end of semester, casuals move on for a better roster elsewhere, and someone's always training up a replacement. This is where having your logo digitised and kept on file actually earns its keep. Once we've set up your logo for embroidery or print, that file stays with us. When you need three more shirts because you've taken on new staff for the school holiday rush, you're not starting from scratch or hoping the new shirts come out looking slightly different to the old ones. Because there's no minimum order, this works whether you need one shirt for a new hire or a batch of twenty ahead of a busy season.

Embroidery or print for a shop uniform

Shops usually want a uniform that looks the part, and the honest answer is that both embroidery and print can do that depending on what you're after. Embroidery is the classic choice for a small, clean logo on the chest. It holds up to hundreds of washes and has a bit of texture and weight to it that reads as considered rather than thrown together. Screen printing suits a bigger, bolder logo, or a design with more than one or two colours, and tends to work well on tees. DTF is worth asking about if your design has fine detail, gradients or a lot of colour. We'll usually recommend one method over another based on your logo and the garment, not the other way around.

How ordering works

Send us your logo, either as a design file or even just a photo of your current signage, along with the garment style and the sizes you need. If your logo hasn't been digitised for embroidery before, we'll do that in-house and keep it on file for every order after this one. We'll come back with a quote and a mockup so you can see roughly how it'll sit on the shirt before anything gets made. Once you approve the artwork, turnaround is typically 2 to 7 business days depending on the order and the decoration method.
